Body Checking

Have you ever gone up against an opponent who it feels like they have an advantage in Body Check? They hit harder and more accurately, and sometimes it feels like your skaters have a magnetic pull that just sucks your opponents into you for bone shattering body checks. Well its not that hard and theyre not that good. Its something that took me a few months to catch onto because I did not see it in any guides, forums or blogs. I just figured they were more skilled at Body Checking than I was. Well here is the trick. Its what I called the "charged" body check. It sort of follows the same principle as the slap shot. Your defenseman has to be moving towards an opponent. Press back on the right thumbstick as if to "charge" your check, like pulling back for a slapshot. Your defenseman will put his arms up at chest level and begins to magnetically glide towards the closest opponent. Watch in the video how the defensemen automatically glides towards the offensemen. It is used most effectively as the offense moves from the neutral zone in the offensive zone and against the boards. Try to land a hit right at the blue line and you will most likely get a sloppy pass that results in a turnover or an offsides call.
